Thank you for visiting the Global Learning Programme – Wales website. Unfortunately, this programme has now finished, however a new programme Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning will run from Autumn 2018 – Summer 2021. We don’t have all the details but it will include the following:

  • CPD including contribution towards supply cover
  • school networks
  • pupil projects on the Sustainable Development Goals
  • equitable and sustainable school partnerships with selected developing countries including Lesotho, Uganda, Zambia and India
  • opportunities for reciprocal visits to/from partner schools

Schools selected as leads for the new programme will be able to apply for grants to support a range of global learning activities for their networks. Keen to find out more and get involved? Register your interest

We expect many of our resources will be migrated to Hwb, so please do visit their page.

The GLP-W Team

Welcome to the Global Learning Programme Wales (GLP-W)

The GLP-W is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the teaching, learning and experience of Global Citizenship.

Since 2014, the GLP-W has been building a network of schools in Wales committed to:

  • equipping their pupils with the knowledge and skills to make a positive contribution to a globalised world
  • supporting teachers to deliver effective teaching and learning about development and global issues at Key Stages 2 and 3

Why take part?

Estyn’s review of ESDGC made several key recommendations including the need for schools to address the more complex issues, plan for progression in pupils’ understanding, use ESDGC to develop literacy and numeracy, and provide appropriate training for school staff.

GLP-W supports schools to deliver on all the above through helping establish local networks of schools and providing the necessary high quality tools, resources, and training.

As well as supporting schools to deliver the present curriculum, GLP-W is also helping pave the way for the new curriculum in Wales, one of whose statutory purposes is to develop children and young people as ethical and informed citizens of Wales and the world.’

Why not join the hundreds of other schools from all over Wales who have engaged with the programme? Register your school here, take a look at our resources, and see what other schools have achieved by reading our case studies.
