Welcome to the Global Learning Programme Wales (GLP-W)

The GLP-W is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the teaching, learning and experience of Global Citizenship.

Since 2014, the GLP-W has been building a network of schools in Wales committed to:

  • equipping their pupils with the knowledge and skills to make a positive contribution to a globalised world;
  • helping teachers to deliver effective teaching and learning about development and global issues at Key Stages 2 and 3.

Why take part?

The GLP-W approach draws on the knowledge and expertise that already exists within Wales and recognises the ability of schools themselves to improve their global learning practice.

In their report on progress in ESDGC last summer, Estyn made several key recommendations including the need for schools to address the more complex issues, plan for progression in pupils’ understanding, use ESDGC to develop literacy and numeracy, and provide appropriate training for school staff.

GLP-W supports schools to deliver on all the above through helping establish  local  networks of schools and providing  the necessary  high quality tools, resources, and training.

We welcome applications from primary, secondary and special schools to join the programme as either Lead Schools or  Network Schools.

The Global Learning Programme is funded by the Department for International Development.
